Two people have now contributed images to the photo gallery this year. There is no shortage of excellent images for the Gallery as seen from our competition nights. Help promote our club by showing off your images in a Gallery Album. Getting Out and About - Photographic Exhibitions

Alfred Stieglitz: The Lake George Years, Until 5 September 2010, Rudy Komon gallery, Upper Level
Alfred Stieglitz was one of the most influential figures in 20th-century American art. A true visionary, he was among the first to recognise the power of photography as an artistic and poetic medium.
Featuring over 150 of the finest and most rare photographs Stieglitz ever printed during the most prolific period in his career, the exhibition includes sublime photographs of people, buildings, landscapes and skies.

EXTERNAL COMPETITIONS

There are numerous competition details and entry forms on the Australian Photographic Society Exhibition site.

The Australia Museum is calling for entries in its "Up Close and Spineless Photographic Competition 2010"
The Up Close & Spineless competition challenges amateur and professional photographers to capture spectacular images of invertebrates (animals without a backbone). Judging criteria will be based upon clarity of detail, interesting behaviour, aesthetics and composition. The Australian Museum also encourages participants to seek out unusual and rare species. PHOTOGRAPHY COURSES

Sydney Community College

SCC has a number of intermediate level courses situated in the Inner West. These include Lighting for Photographers, Documentary Photography, Portraiture and Landscape Photography. In addition they have basic camera craft courses.
Also of potential interest to club members is a series of Photography Talks presented by professional photographers.

Centre for Continuing Education

CCE has a number of photography courses coming up including, Digital Photography - the Basics, Digital Photography - the Next Step, Making the Most of your D-SLR Camera, Understanding HDR Photography, Studio Portrait Photography, and Portrait Photography Unplugged. There is also a course on Photoshop Elements under the Graphic Arts courses. To find out more details click this link.

Picture Framing

There are at least two course providers for those people wanting to develop their skills in presentation of their prints.
FrameCo have a number of courses for different skill levels as well as being a supplier of materials for framing. Their site includes framing hints. To find out more details click this link.
